1 /5 Peter Nicholson: If you are new to taxes, like I was, Ferey is not for you. From July I asked him whether being new to taxes would affect my learning curve and he replied “no just register, study the material I send you, and come to the class because the class is interactive and engaging.” I paid him over $600 and he sent me his material for studying which was not helpful at all. His material is for the tax professional that has already been doing taxes and just needs a “refresher” on changes made. Granted, I have a bachelors in accounting and am a working accountant, I just don’t specialize in tax. I thought to myself in July how hard could it be right?? So months go by of me attempting to study his material and I am trying my best to learn, took detailed notes, and October rolls around for the 30 hour class session. I go there hoping to get more assistance right. He said the class was engaging, everyone was there to help, and it’s a lot of fun. Completely the opposite people!! You could tell many people were return preparers and happy to see each other. But me being new, not one person reached out to help or guide me, not even Ferey. He speeds through the lessons without going in detail about what’s being discussed. Overall, If you’ve prepared before, you’ll probably be alright with him. If your new, find a different CE provider.
