1 /5 Carla Ferrante: First off, these people almost cost me over 10k that I did not owe.. I was referred to this company by a friend and a long time client of theirs. I told them I am a Realtor. I showed up to my appointment and was set up with a very new book keeper - not a CPA. She had zero input for me as to how I should expense anything. I had questions about setting up an S Corp and she simply said I didnt need to. I asked her if she ever worked with a Realtor and she said NO. I was beyond nervous and knew for a fact that my return was not going to be correct. I left to go get my previous year tax return. When I returned, I expressed to Renee RIGHT THEN that I was not comfortable with the person doing my taxes and that I had a lot questions she could not answer. Renee totally disregarded my concerns and told me I could set another appointment with an actual CPA after tax season and that a CPA would review my return. So now she wanted me to pay for 2 appointments and not get my questions answered until months later. COMPLETE NEGLIGENCE. I was extremely uncomfortable and did not want to make a scene, so I left. I overheard Renee telling someone that they are retiring and sold the business already for next year, but did not want to tell anyone yet. So Deceitful.. I left and then came back and asked for my documents and that I would not be having my taxes done here as they have not given me the level of professional service that I agreed to pay for. Renee would not release my personal documents to me unless I paid the $260 fee. I had copies, so I told her to keep them and that I am not paying. The only reason I came to Roberts on my friends referral was because I waited too long to make my appointment and my CPA was booked for the season. I called my CPA though and told her what happened and she let me drop my documents off (which l had copies of) and she had my taxes ready for me on 4/15. Come to find out I did not owe $10,000 like Roberts claimed. My CPA had the exact same information I had given Roberts. She just knows what she is doing and asked the questions that should have been asked. Next thing, I start getting harassed by a really aggressive collections agency that Renee hired to collect the $257 fee that I refused to pay. (30 days) I went in there and wrote her a check for the $257 today and told her that she is a bully and their firm is NEGLIGENT. She lost her cool and was aggressive and irate, to the point an older gentlemen came out looking scared as if there was something crazy going on. I simply kept telling Renee calmly that she is a bully and unprofessional and that I am giving her the $257 to get rid of the bullying, not to pay a professional fee, just paying to stop a bully. She just about chased me out physically! I am a single parent, head of household, business owner and had 2 major health setbacks in 2018 that required surgery and they were NEGLIGENT in completing my taxes correctly. Renee was well aware of the NEGLIGENCE, but wanted their inflated fee anyway. Who pays almost $300 for a book keeper that has zero experience working with a business owner? How can a CPA review my return without asking me for the added information that is needed? Even worse, she totally embarrassed and disrespected her long time client that referred me by placing me with an inexperienced book keeper and then treating me like criminal. When I told Renee they were WAY off and I did not owe $10,000. She accused me of lying to my CPA. I gave my CPA the exact same documents and information that I gave to Roberts, the difference is that my CPA is competent, experienced and ethical.. these people are not. Renee even put her employee in an awful predicament. It had to be very embarrassing and demoralizing for her to have no idea how to help me. If you have been a client at this firm for more than a year, you should definitely have a second look at previous returns. This was an absolute massacre on my tax returns and a spectacle of unprofessional behavior.
