1 /5 Kristin Cayea: AVOID THIS BANK AT ALL COST!!!
I recently moved to the area and figured I should start moving things over to a local institute and saw a lot of Golden 1 bank locations so thought it would be a good choice. I was SO wrong!
I opened my account online and funded it by moving money from my current bank. Even got my online banking set up on their app. They mailed me a debit card and a check book with no other communication. I went on the app to activate the debit card and was locked out. When I tried to follow their instructions it tried to text a code to a number that was not mine. Red flag number 1.
I called the number and was told that my account was never actually set up because I need to send them identification. Ok…no problem. Uploaded requested document. No communication for over 2 weeks! Red flag number 2.
I emailed yesterday to their customer service line and received a response today that they identified my documents are counterfeit and closed my account. To get my money back I would need to contact the bank I sent it from. WHAT?!???! You wrongly felt my id is counterfeit and instead of contacting me or having me come down to the branch you just close it and hope I never wonder where my money is?!?!?! I will be reporting this to the BBB and I hope everyone avoids this place like the plague. I am beyond angry that a place would toy with a person’s money like this for over a month now before just going…oh well…you go do the work yourself.
