1 /5 TaShayla: Beware of Cordell & Cordell, and especially attorney Margaret Johnson. My experience with this firm was a complete waste of time and money. From the beginning, Margaret Johnson was extremely unorganized, lacked confidence, and clearly did not have a firm grasp on my case.
In court, the judge openly questioned why she was even there representing me on a mutual order of protection case, ultimately stating that she was just going to extend the orders. It was both embarrassing and infuriating which my attorney couldn’t even articulate a clear position or strategy. There was no preparation, no understanding of best- or worst-case scenarios, and absolutely no advocacy on my behalf.
The final insult came after court, when the only thing Margaret could say to me was to chuckle and remark, “I don’t like that judge.” That summed up the lack of professionalism and seriousness she brought to my case.
This attorney appeared far more focused on billing than actually helping. In my opinion, she lacked both legal competence and personal integrity. I chose Cordell & Cordell because of a trusted friend who recommended them but I left feeling completely abandoned and exploited. Think twice before trusting them with your case.
