Alex Perry Pulled over near the light on East Santa Clara and 5th, just blocks from San Jose State — I thought it was just expired tags. Turns out I didn’t have valid insurance and I didn’t even realize that could trigger a whole SR22 situation. First car, first time being this deep into adult stuff, and I was shook. I walked into SLPE two days later still a little embarrassed, but the lady up front literally said, ‘Breathe. We’ll get you fixed up.’ She helped me get same-day SR22 insurance and filed everything with the DMV while I was still sitting there. The monthly SR22 premium wasn’t nearly as bad as I feared — actually fit my budget. I walked out feeling protected, not punished. Saved their number in case any of my friends mess up like I did.
