1 /5 Dionicia Clinton: I was told by MANY people to go to Scott Brown and Associates in Angleton. So I did and I retained a lawyer from there with promises and hope given to me in the initial consultation. I was told it would be an easy, open and shut case and I was told I wouldn’t be charged more than one retainer fee. I ended up being charged not one, not two but THREE retainer fees. I got new representation just before they were about to ask for a fourth. I was always lost, no one ever explained what was happening, they would have me find info and print it out myself, I was not given a heads up if court was rescheduled at times, my daughter and I were not fought for. They charged me almost 17k and did absolutely nothing for us. They made “verbal agreements” with the other party and when it wasn’t upheld, they did nothing about it. Which causes more court dates that they charge for. Once I got new representation, I fully realized I was taken advantage of. I only paid one retainer fee with my new lawyer and she got me exactly what I was wanting in a way shorter time. Please, do not go to Scott Brown and Associates. They will run your retainer fee up just to get more and more from you without actually doing anything for you. I was also told by my lawyers, “you know, there are worse dads out there”, trying to minimize my situation.

1 /5 Jason Bennett: These people are criminals. My ex wife filed for divorce and despite her telling them not to be dishonest, they filed and won a temporary restraining order against me. There were no legitimate grounds for this order. I am not a violent or aggressive person, nor am I neglectful to my children. I had to leave my children and my apartment that I had been paying for because the lawyer is a dishonest criminal. Then when my ex and I had agreed to terms, the lawyer sent a copy of what shouldve been our agreed terms and everything had been changed. I complained at their dishonesty and they rewrote it in even more unfair terms. Basically I was a travel nurse a year before the divorce, worked a new job after the travel nurse pay dried up and i was making significantly less and had just gotten fired before i even knew my ex was divorcing me and took a job paying even less. They said they can claim my travel nurse pay (even though legally a significant change in income would have been considered by a judge especially since it occurred before the divorce). On top of this when I complained they illegally threatened my livelihood and reputation if I did not agree to their illegal extortion. I reluctantly agreed under duress and trying to avoid an even more costly legal battle had I hired my own lawyer. They didnt even allow mediation and threatened going straight to discovery which they wouldve discovered my ex had just as much "community waste" as I had. Because of the amount they extorted from me for child support I had to leave Texas all together as no job paid me enough where I could have a livable wage due to the high child support and the fact I got saddled with 100% of my exs debt in addition to my own. Lastly, after I sent the signature for the papers, they made more changes to it. Technically they shouldve re-aquired my signature as it was no longer the same document but they used my signature on the previous document and moved the signature page to the new document. This is fraud/forgery. Summary: they committed felony extortion. They committed felonious fraud in obtaining a false restraining order. They comitted a misdemeanor of fraud in using my signature on a document I did not sign. These people are criminals and I would only recommend them if you truly hate your spouse that you are divorcing and also dont mind going to jail if someone presses charges for the illegal activities done in your name.

Mr. Hanley explained every step to getting this resolved very well. The communication was great questions answered in a timely manner. The case was resolved in a timely manner. He was always interested in my case and in my best interests and didn’t do anything sneaky or underhanded in any way to get the results he achieved.
