5 /5 Dee Weifenbach: As soon as my husband found out he had Mesothelioma, he called Provost Umphrey Law Firm in Beaumont Tx. They sent us a packet to fill out to our home and return. When we got home 5 weeks later, it was all overwhelming. My best friend worked at Mr Umphrey’s nursery on his property at that time. I called her to let her know we were home. She told me to hold on that Mr. Umphrey was in her office there at the nursery and she handed him the phone. He asked me how we were doing and asked how he could help. I explained how overwhelmed we were with the process of filling out the paperwork. He said he would send out a lawyer from the firm the next morning and help us with the filing of the lawsuit against the asbestos companies of the products he had come in contact on his job as a Chief Engineer on merchant ships. And he did!!! He sent Colin Moore to our front door the next day. Colin took a deposition from my husband with a camera man and his stenographer.Colin and his team from the firm has kept in close contact with me through the entire journey. My husband unfortunately only lived for 6 months after being diagnosis in 2007 and fought a hard battle. For the last 16 years they have worked hard in securing my future. I have benefited VERY much since that first meeting with Colin. My life is different without my husband. The Provost Umphrey Law firm has brought honor and justice for him and still are working hard. 5 /5 JC Milich: Personal Injury Case Settlement After my accident, I attempted to handle things myself and quickly learned that obtaining legal representation is paramount. Doctors and medical facilities are not helpful when one does not have medical insurance (which I did not at the time.) After speaking with friends and attorneys and then finally Darren Brown, I decided that Provost Umphrey had the knowledge, resources and personnel to help me with my case. Fabiana Baum was my legal counsel and her legal assistant is Deborah Aquirre. Fabiana is a personal injury attorney and immigration lawyer that speaks English, Portuguese, Italian and Spanish. She is amazing. With Fabianas guidance and the help and communication from Deborah, updates and assistance, working with hospitals, doctors and medical facilities instantly became effortless, to my relief. I was advised to keep a weekly diary of my issues resulting from the accident which was very helpful when the depositions and requests for information began. There was a lot of that because the case lasted three (3) years. James E. Payne, Senior Firm Partner entered the boardroom and on the day of my first mediation. James is fantastic and explained that he was not going to let the insurance company take advantage of me and my situation. There were two zoom mediations, and both took the entire day from 9am to 4pm... These mediations were a few months apart. When the final hour approached, at the end of the day at our second mediation, only a month before our second scheduled trial, James and Fabiana returned with an offer to settle that was so far past my initial expectations that I was in shock for a month. I was initially told by my brother who is an attorney, to do your research, to choose wisely and to trust your counsel. Im very grateful for that advice. It only comes with experience and resources that a team of attorneys would not rush to settle. The Provost Umphrey Law Firm did not rush to settle... It was difficult to wait and I often felt overwhelmed, but in the end, with the help, guidance and communication from Fabiana and Deborah, that chapter of my life is finished and a new chapter begins.
