5 /5 Candace Berry: My husband and I used Christine Remy’s legal services back in March of 2018 for a custody battle. Mrs. Remy and her team were able to get us custody of my husband’s children in less than one month, and for less than half of what we expected to have to pay based on the experiences of our friends in similar situations. Because of the way she helped us gather our evidence, testimonies, and records, the other party decided to agree to a settlement in our favor instead of fighting it out in front of a judge. After a few weeks of preparation, our actual court date ended up being done in about two hours because the other party decided to just give in because of the strength of our case.
This process went so well for us because Mrs. Remy and Crystal are so knowledgeable. In our consultation alone, they were able to conduct searches of arrest and financial records on the other party and start strategizing on what we could use in our favor. They are also knowledgeable about the legal process and the criteria for winning certain cases, such that they were able to correctly advise us on what route we should take (emergency ex-parte filing versus a regular custody case) to win. Not only that, but they know the history of the court system in the New Orleans area and the background and temperaments of the judges in the area, which allowed them to advise us on how we should file our petitions to get the best chances with the judge that would be most likely to agree with us on the severity of the case and justification for our petition.
One of the things I loved most about working with them was that they are straightforward, but they understand that this is ultimately our money, our time, and our case. So while they would advise us on what to do, they let us make the final decision. For example, they advised that we likely didn’t have enough for an emergency ex-parte filing, but allowed us to decide to do so anyway. As they predicted, with the judge who was in place, it got denied. But they were supportive throughout, and were prepared to object and drive forward for the regular court case.
Another thing I appreciated was Mrs. Remy’s ability to be soft and kind when needed, and straightforward and strategic as well. She knew that because of this kind of case, the judge in place, and the lawyer that the other party got, she needed to be a little more direct, a little more harsh, and put it all on the table.
I also appreciate that Mrs. Remy and her team did not take advantage of our emotional state and charge us an exorbitant amount for her services. Instead, she advised us on the most cost efficient way to get things done. I was so surprised that we were able to get the job done on the retainer we paid instead of having to pay any more. As promised, the same day we paid our retainer, Christine and Crystal got started on the work gathering documentation, sending subpoenas for records, and drafting petition paperwork. They did not waste any time.
Throughout the process, their communication was efficient and direct. We had to follow up with them a few times to decide whether or not we needed to travel from Missouri to New Orleans, but they were gracious enough to handle much of the footwork and court for us in our absence to minimize our travel. They communicate by call, text, or email, which is good because I communicate best by these latter two options. They were direct and to the point, and were realistic and objective about what was going on.
All in all, if you’re looking for a lawyer who knows the environment, the law, the other lawyers, and the judges in place, and who will get you the results you need quickly for a reasonable cost, choose Mrs. Remy. We are so grateful for her, Crystal, and her husband Mark who have helped us get custody of our older kids, reuniting them with their father in a safe and happy environment.
