5 /5 Dave Scott: I would give them 10 stars, if possible! I had been banking with another local credit union for 32 years. Yesterday, I went to that credit union to get a motorcycle loan. After meeting with them, i decided to shop around, and Im very glad I did. I met with Chris Cox at the Pontiac SOCU branch and not only did she beat my credit unions rate on the loan by a mile, she also signed me up for the SOCU Visa and did a very low interest balance transfer on two of my current cards, increased my credit limit and lowered my interest rate. Then, she showed me how they could lower my interest rate on my mortgage and save me thousands of dollars. She also told me they do not sell their mortgages to third party mortgage brokers so your money stays local. That was great to hear! She did all of this in about one hour. Everyone there was very friendly, smiling and laughing. The whole time I was there, it felt more like a family reunion then a bank appointment! My former credit union has felt very sterile and robotic. My time spent at SOCU was a great experience.They just won over a new customer! I would highly recommend you at least consider SOCU for any of your personal banking needs. Great Job Chris! Nice to meet you!

1 /5 cory hopper: Probably the worst customer service Ive ever dealt with in my life. Also they flat out lie to your face. If i could give zero stars i would. Once i finish paying of this car Ill never deal with them again!

1 /5 Jayson Lane: SOCU is one of the worst banks you could possibly borrow money from. They have been screwing my 24 year old son around for 7 months now. He is a 1st time borrow. It all started with THEM entering the incorrect numbers and blaming the dealships handwriting. Then, they had an insurance company start charging him for a policy @ $1,300 for a 3 month policy. (He has full coverage through State Farm). 3 months go by and they charge him another 3 months @ $1,300. SOCU says not our problem call the insurance company. WHO THE HECK AUTHORIZED THIS THEN. Nothing but more issues after that. MORAL OF THE STORY WE OWED MORE ON THE LOAN AFTER 7 MONTHS THAN WE STARTED WITH..... I WILL ALSO TURN THIS INTO BBB, ONCE I HAVE ALL THE NUMBERS IN ORDER, TOO. There are 100s of better options in the area, save yourself the headache and explore all other options before getting involved in this nightmare!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

1 /5 Lucas Gray: Terrible customer service from the payments department specifically. They charged my wife and I almost $1400 loan because we did not provide proof of insurance when we moved out of state. We sent them this more than a couple of times and still had the audacity to charge our loan. Call backs and communication are all around failure for a business as they don’t know what they are doing half the time. I’m at the point of refinancing my loan with better rates at most other places anyhow but more so this banks fraudulent practices of not even seeing the information they have requested was sent multiple times and still charged to our account. They make promises they will call back and then don’t and you have to call back multiple times. DO NOT BANK WITH SOCU. Read the other negative reviews. Seems like this bank has serious issues.

5 /5 Justin Greenwell: This place is awesome if you ask me! Ive never had a bad thing to say about them. I was in a bind a couple years ago and needed a car, but my credit was terrible. They took a gamble on me and gave me a loan with a 7.24% interest rate. Everyone else wanted 24.99%. (Or flat out denied me.) They worked with me and helped me manage my loan in a way that worked for me by allowing me to skip a monthly payment when times were tough. They also have a 10 day "grace period" on their loans that ensure you are never late on payment! And they reported my perfect payment history to the credit bureau, helping me build up my score. When I was ready to buy my truck, I simply made a call and was pre-approved for another loan on the spot because I had "Perfect credit with the them". They also approved me for a credit card when noone else would. The employees treat me great and are always able to answer any questions I have, even if that means contacting someone at the home office for help. I would say that SOCU has been a life changer for me and I highly recommend them to anyone who needs a little help getting their financial situation on track.
