1 /5 Cece Arzaga: I financed my vehicle through CEFCU out of Alton, IL since it had the best interest rate available. At this point, I feel it might’ve been worth it to have gone with a higher rate at a better quality banking institution. After making my first car payment, I attempted to setup auto pay which most banks make pretty straightforward. However, at CEFCU, I was told I’d have to come in or mail them a form to establish autopay. A few days later, I called to make an appointment to do this but was then told, I COULD do this online. The rep on the phone walked me through establishing this on the app. I set auto pay up - or so I thought. Come my due date, the payment never gets taken out. The following day I make a payment on my own, so that I’m not late on the auto loan payment. A few days later, the payment is taken out twice. I call to let them know of the inconvenience. They tell me they won’t be able to refund me for a few days. They help me set up auto pay online. Again, the issue happens. The following month except this time, I go negative in my external account. Each person I spoke to over the phone had to call me back because they didn’t know the answer to my issue and/or they gave me different information. Not only have I suffered financially by banking with CEFCU, but I’ve been rejected when asked if they’d simply acknowledge or attempt to make up for something THEIR bank did wrong. They actively have made themselves unavailable and inaccessible during emergent issues like their customers going negative due to a mistake on their end. I would advise anyone to avoid this bank at all costs.
