1 /5 Alicia Bailey: Seemingly unethical pricing practices. Her pricing fees seem to be dependent upon the person not an actual fee schedule. My friend and I both went to her for our separate respective uncontested divorces. We both did consultations in January. I am military and he is not. At that time she quoted me $3000 for an uncontested and $300 consultation fee. She told me with my military discount that it would be $2500 and 250 respectively. I could not afford that at the time and filed the original complain on my own. It was kicked back for missing information. I did a second consultation of $250 and showed her the court orders requiring the documents. She confirmed in that consultation (my friend was there) that as long as it was still uncontested she could file a motion to set aside the settlement agreement and still file an uncontested for the $2500 minus my consultations. On July 16th I called to pay the fees. I was then told it would be $3250 after only one of my consultation fees were applied. I spoke to my friend later on that night and found out that he was only charged 2k total for his uncontested divorce with no discounts. He is not military. We both did our initial consultations within the same time period. She says there is a military discount but seems like she raises the fees to adjust for a discount she doesnt actually provide. This seems unethical. I wrote an email asking for clarification and asking why I am being charged more for the same divorce process. We both have a house, we both have two kids and a parenting agreement. We both have retirement to split and are both uncontested. The difference being she claimed to give me a military discount while charging me more over all. When she responded to the email she completely ignored the pricing discrepancy and just said she had mistaken and thought my divorce was contested. I said it wasnt. She had her assistant call me to tell me that she will do the divorce for $2250 (only applying one of the consultations) like she originally agreed however now I am fully aware that I am being charged more while they are claiming to provide a military discount. Michele said I should have hired her back in January before her fees went up however I was quoted the same price then. I also paid the same consultation as him. There was no discount. I feel taken advantage of. EDIT FOR REPLY: 7/22/2025 5:07 I did make it clear I did not hire you. Our first consultation was you going over the fees for uncontested vs contested as well as how the actual process of divorce worked. That was it. You did not give me any other advice except to say I should hire you, so I there was no advice to follow. I told you then I could not afford that much and my only options were to wait until I could or file myself. I did not make threats against your business in order to get you to lower fees. Once it was clear that you were going to charge me more regardless and that the military discount you claimed to give seemed fake, I declined hiring you and said I will be filing a grievance with the state bar for unethical filing fees. I did not tell you to lower the fees to prevent it. I did not use that as a means for you to lower your pricing. The conversation was over then and I made the review. You gave me excuses of your fees have raised since then and I was told I should have hired you in January when in reality the quote was the exact same then. You charged him less without a military discount then you quoted me in January and less than you quoted me at the second consultation that he sat in on. This is not social media. This is a review site for Google to let other people know how my experience went. My experience was far from satisfactory and I feel misled and taken advantage of. You gave me those prices at the same time you gave him a lower price, this was before we filed on our own and yet you said I got a military discount. At the end of the day, he had no discounts and paid less than the original quote you gave me with an included "military discount" before we ever even filed.
