1 /5 Dario Rodriguez: We had a drive tire replaced yesterday. The mechanic offered a used drive tire for $350, claiming it was “as close as it can get to new.” I approved the repair — it seemed like a reasonable price for a road service, and we were satisfied at the time.
I was originally supposed to wait and pay the TA shop around $500 for a new tire, but I decided to go with the mechanic’s option to save time and money.
However, today with less than 500 miles later the sidewall tore apart, most likely because it had been run flat for some time before installation.
I called the shop, but they refused to offer any refund or resolution.
