1 /5 greenbeagle13: Years ago I invested with Ameriprise Financial at this location. I always drove over to Tampa to meet my "adviser", thinking it would help her (Lauren). I would show up early, like i always do, but my appointment time would roll by and she would ALWAYS (I mean ALWAYS), come out late - the minimum was 15 minutes late. Finally I got fed up with it and closed my account with them.
I kept getting letters and emails from them wanting me to make an appointment to talk about "my account"..., I figured it was just a marketing ploy. I finally called (about 2 weeks ago) and found out I had $635.00 in an account - a dead account that had just been sitting there all these years (according to my now new "adviser", Nathan). He said he would send me a check for this amount because it wasnt active anyway.
About a week later I received a check from Ameriprise, minus $25.00. I sent an email questioning why it was $25.00 short and was advised it was a "maintenance fee" charge.
Considering I was NEVER advised that there was ANY money left behind when I closed my account, and I was NEVER sent information that I was being charged a quarterly "maintenance fee"..., I wonder what the actual amount in that account was when I closed the account, and why wasnt I given that money immediately.
Consumer - be very wary of Ameriprise.
