1 /5 Precious Reese: Beware Florida PACE
I entered into a PACE loan hoping to make my home more energy efficient, but what I got wasvhigh‑interest burden that is biting deep into my yearly property tax bill. The interest rate is steep, the disclosures were vague, and worst of all the loan holds “super‑lien” status over my mortgage — meaning falling behind could cost me my home. When I looked into complaints, I found thousands of people in my situation: senior citizens and ordinary folks who were misled, overcharged, or unaware of what they were actually signing.
The bottom line: if you don’t want to be locked into paying way more than you bargained for, read every line, do the math, and consider alternatives. Florida PACE may promote green upgrades, but it’s doing so in a way that looks more like a long shark than a helping hand. Payoffs are extremely hard to process.Taking multiple attempts and it seems as though theyre doing it on purpose un order to rack up the interest rate. I will never ever use this company again. I also plan on putting a horrible review for best contractors ( the company I used to install the upgrades).
