5 /5 Mike Porter: I am writing this review on request to share my experience with attorney Carson Newton. I retained him on a family law case. Im not a big review guy and only usually write one if I am upset. However I feel that when our business was complete I actually owed Carson money so this is the least I can do. Bitter divorce, 2 young kids, ex with rich parents and evil attorney. I hired Carson to see me through a custody evaluation the other side was paying for (33 thousand dollars..!!). It was terrifying to have the other side paying the entirety of that bill (bias much?). Anyway my fears were unfounded and the evaluator came out for me. So of course the other side wanted to take it to trial. To my way of thinking this is the time when an attorney is a real necessity. They scheduled a 2-day trial and I paid Carson his requested retainer for that. He had to travel 3 hours and get a room because they cannot represent remotely at trial. He did have me travel to him one day before the trial and we did in-person trial training, which was worth every bit of the drive. Heres the kicker. Actually theres two kickers. The trial did not conclude after the 2 full days, and I was OUT OF MONEY..!! This trial was for primary custody of my kids in a long-distance split, and I had spent the last liquid thousands that I had to my name to secure representation for it. Stressful. Kicker #1. Carson agreed to come out again for the final day of trial and told me to pay him when I could. I think he may have actually been motivated in part by moral outrage at our evil opposing attorney, which is amazing, but I cannot say. Kicker #2. Unbelievably, the trial did not conclude AGAIN. Even more unbelievably, Carson said the same thing to me. He would not abandon ship. I could have kissed him. That 4th day of trial I won primary custody. Most important day of my life. Every bit of this story is true; monterey county case 23FL000191. I told Carson I felt indebted to him for the two pro-bono appearances he did for me which had a value of thousands, so here you go. I think Carson Newton is actually a real good guy, uncommonly so in my experience, and especially in my experience with attorneys.
