1 /5 Arlett: Reccently called and spoke with someone named David to inquire about potential help with my situation. During the call, I happened to mention that I live in a rough neighborhood. To my surprise, the first thing he said in response was that he doesn’t personally handle these types of cases, but if he refers me to someone who does, it’s going to cost me $600–$700.
The comment came off as incredibly unprofessional and presumptive. David doesn’t know me or my financial situation, yet it felt like he made an assumption about my ability to pay based solely on where I live. I reached out hoping for guidance, not judgment.
This kind of interaction was disappointing and left me feeling dismissed rather than supported. I hope this feedback is taken seriously so that others aren’t met with the same type of response.
